The real deal behind being 19x

One of the most common things I hear from people these days, especially with LHC and Destroyed Henesys, is how easy it is to level.  Now don’t get me wrong, yes, levelling is a lot easier than before Big Bang, and even easier than after Big Bang, there is no denying that. I was around for the time when it took a couple of weeks to get to level 30, and getting 10%/hr at level 70 was considered fast.  Nowadays, 1-30 is a matter of hours, and 1-120 can be achieved in a week or so without having to sacrifice your social life.

All this changes once you reach level 192.

It’s seriously like flipping a switch.  The ratio of total exp needed to level has not changed since before Big Bang.  The total amount of exp gained from 1-188 is the same amount of exp that is needed to level from 188-200.  Let me just say that again so you can understand what it means.  The total amount of exp gained, combined from all the levels 1-188, is the same amount of exp needed to level from 188-200.

Don’t get me wrong, I flew through 1-170 in not too much time at all.  171-191 wasn’t too bad either, although I spent most, if not all of my Maple time grinding.  It never bothered me, I enjoy training and that’s how I met most of my close friends on the game.  It was grueling getting to 180, but it felt so rewarding.  180-190 was slow, but turning 19x felt so good.  190-191 wasn’t so bad either.  But then I turned 192, and the reality of what was going on really started to hit me.

Training at LHC on mostly non glitched maps, with hs, would get me anywhere between 12%-15%/hr, depending on the strength of my party.  Training at Dark Ereve (Cygnus Stronghold) would get me a whopping 25%-30%/hr.  Training was beautiful.  Then I turned the corner to level 192, and it felt like I rand straight into a brick wall.  My 12%/hr dropped to 3-4%/hr, with HS and a 18x+ party.  Stronghold training went from 25-30%/hr to a mere 8%/hr, again with a nice, pro party.  This was when I began to see the real struggle to get to 200, the home stretch.

Back to my main point I made in the beginning of the post, walking around towns or LHC would get me a few different responses from randoms that I came across. Most would ignore me, but the others were split into 3 distinct camps.  The first group of people are the kind that see a high level and just trolol about how I have no life, and how I bet I wish that I had a girlfriend like these guys, but that for a different post.  The other two would either be in complete awe of such a high levelled, godly (he HAS to be godly, he’s 19x!!11one!), and the other have which has the same catch phrase between all of them;

“You’re only so high because of Big Bang and LHC.”

Again, don’t get me wrong, I will be the first to admit that turning 200 in this day and age, does not compare to turning 200 before Big Bang.  However, that doesn’t diminish the feat.  190-191 took me 20 hours of grinding.  Each level after that has added 1-2hours onto that time.  As bad as before Big Bang?  Of course not.  Easy to do?  Of course not!   It still takes a lot of dedication and willpower to get through these last 10 levels.  You may see a lot of the blue level 200 notices, but for all the millions of players and characters out there, 3-4 max level notices a week is barely even a drop in the bucket.

To close out this rant I just want to end with this: Getting high level, although easier, is still no easy feat to do, so please respect the effort and time that goes into to getting this high.  And please stop with the “Do it before Big Bang” rhetoric.  If it was really that easy, you should be level 200, no?

And with that, thanks for reading, and as always, if there’s anything YOU would like to see me write about, drop me and inbox or leave me a comment, and I will respond as soon as I can!  At the time of posting this, I am level 195, 50.30%.

Cheers~
